Preparing Tarragon Medicinally
Beyond the kitchen, tarragon is simple to prepare at home in a couple of traditional ways.
Tarragon infused oil
Fill a jar halfway with wilted or dried tarragon leaves, then top it up with olive oil. Set it in a sunny window or another warm spot to infuse, then strain.
Tarragon tea
Steep 1 tablespoon of tarragon leaves in a cup of boiling water for about 5 minutes, then strain. You can also simply chew a fresh leaf straight from the plant.
Grower's tip: Russian tarragon grows readily from seed, while French tarragon, prized for its flavor, is grown from plants or divisions. Pick leaves in the morning once the dew dries, when the aromatic oils are at their peak.
