Healing Oregano Tea
Oregano tea is a simple herbal infusion that people have enjoyed for generations, often as a warming drink during the cold months. It has a bold, savory flavor and comes together from a handful of fresh oregano leaves and a little honey.
Ingredients
- 2 to 2 1/2 cups water
- 4 to 6 tablespoons fresh oregano leaves
- Honey to taste
How to make it
- Bring the water to a boil.
- Add the oregano, reduce the heat to medium, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Strain, sweeten with honey to taste, and serve warm.
Grower's tip: oregano's aromatic oils are strongest just before the plant flowers, so that is the best time to pick leaves for tea. A single plant from a packet of oregano seeds will keep you in fresh leaves all season.
