What is in a sunflower mix?
Our mix brings together a range of sunflower heights and warm colors, from classic yellow to deeper russet and bicolor blooms, for variety in the garden and the vase.
When and how do I plant sunflower seeds?
Sow directly after the last frost, about an inch deep in full sun once the soil is warm. Seedlings appear in about 7 to 10 days.
How far apart should I space sunflowers?
Space plants about 6 to 18 inches apart, giving the taller varieties more room and a spot sheltered from strong wind.
Are these sunflowers good cut flowers?
Yes. Cut the stems just as the blooms open, in the morning for the longest vase life, and enjoy the range of colors and heights.
Do sunflowers attract pollinators and birds?
Both. Bees and butterflies work the flowers while they bloom, and the seed heads feed songbirds in fall and winter.
Can I save seed from the mix?
Yes. Let some heads mature until the backs turn brown, then dry them and rub the seeds free to sow or feed the birds.
Q: “What is your shelf life? What conditions to store?”
