How to Prevent Bolting in Bok Choy?

by Organo Republic 17 Aug 2022
Shooting is most often a response to transplant, temperature, and overflow. The plant feels threatened and begins to multiply actively. Therefore, for the garden, you should choose a variety that slowly bears fruit, especially in an area with sudden temperature changes.

Plant bok choy in the spring before the trees are entirely out, so the bok choy is in the shade when they open up. Since bok choy loves the sun, it needs six to eight hours of direct sunlight. You can create shade with a tarp.
Sow seeds directly into nitrogen-rich, well-drained soil as soon as the danger of frost has passed, and temperatures are 55-70 degrees F (13-21 C). If temperatures drop below 55 degrees F (13 degrees C) at night, bok choy may shoot.

It would be best to grow bok choy in a cold room where you can control the temperature to prevent bok choy from shooting. Plants should receive about one inch (2.5 cm) of water per week, and the soil should be kept moist between waterings.
