What color are Golden Detroit beets?
Golden Detroit produces bright golden-orange roots that turn a warm yellow when cooked. A big advantage is that they do not bleed like red beets, so they will not stain your hands, cutting board, or other foods.
How does Golden Detroit taste?
The flavor is notably sweet and mild, often milder than red beets, which makes golden beets popular even with people who think they dislike beets. The greens are also tender and tasty.
When and how do I plant the seeds?
Direct sow 2-3 weeks before your last frost, 1/2 inch deep and about 1 inch apart. Golden beet seed can germinate a little more slowly, so keep the soil consistently moist.
How long until harvest and how far apart?
Roots are ready in about 55-60 days. Thin seedlings to 3 inches apart in rows 12 inches apart, in full sun and loose, well-drained soil.
How many seeds are in the packet?
Each packet contains approximately 100 seeds. As with all beets, each seed is a cluster that can produce more than one seedling.
