How & when to plant

Growing & care

Cornflowers like full sun and average, well-drained soil and tolerate drought once established. Water in dry spells and deadhead regularly to keep the compact plants covered in bloom. They dislike heat and humidity and may finish early in hot climates, so sow early.

Harvest

Cut stems when the flowers are just fully open for bouquets that last about a week. The petals are edible and make a pretty garnish for salads and cakes. Let a few heads dry on the plant for seed.
