Great seeds!

Great seeds! They take root and sprout very quickly, and are bountiful growers! Very happy with them and they taste great! I've grown several batches now, and they've all done well. I use a 2-inch-deep clear drawer organizer to grow them in, with basic seed starting potting mix, and it's perfect. They do well on a east-facing window sill that gets morning light and afternoon "shade." The photo shows the growth after just 3 days, including germination! Fantastic growing speed!

Customers praised these seeds for excellent germination rates and fast sprouting, often within 2-3 days. Many noted "seeds sprouted almost immediately" and enjoyed the fresh, spicy flavor in salads. However, some encountered challenges with jar sprouting due to seeds becoming slimy; soil-based growing yielded better results. A few reported low germination or delayed shipping.

  • The microgreen seeds worked perfectly. Tasted great and I enjoyed them for a week.
  • These are amazing arugula seeds. Ive been using them for years without a single failure.
  • Grew them to the microgreens stage, and they were delicious. They even resprouted after cutting!

Could have been great...

The package was poorly sealed by the manufacturer and lead to half the bag being emptied into the Amazon package on arrival. It weighed less than 1lb after I got all the seeds I could back into the package. That's disappointing but I won't be returning it. We'll see how the germination rate is...

Arugula microgreen seeds

The quality of these seeds are excellent. The germination rate is less than 7 days. They are vibrant in color, as far as the seedlings. They taste great and you get over 55,000 seeds in this bag and it’s a great price point. The function of the seeds is phenomenal.

Incredible germination rate!

I love arugula & couldn’t find plants this year so I bought these seeds. They sprouted within 3 days! Excellent as micro greens but I want to try growing some as larger plants also. They taste fabulous & the package is HUGE! With tiny packages costing $5, these are a bargain.

The instructions say to pre-soaked the seeds

I couldn't disagree more strongly very quicklyafter putting them in the water the seeds sprouted a snotty substance which made them all stick together there was no way to spread them out evenly

Growing well!

Arugula shoots are growing well and seeds germinated quickly and, from what I can tell, at a very high rate.I have now a densely packed flat tray with microgreens and I only used a handful of seeds, so there is a lot more to harvest before I am through the whole bag. I am growing them in an aquarium converted into a small greenhouse, in front of a south-facing window so the soil temperature and light exposure are optimal.Very tasty too. Good purchase!

Easy to Grow, Tasty & FUN!

My first microgreens tray I used soil. I have since switched to hemp fibre grow mats. The roots grow into the fiber without the mess of soil. Growing microgreens is very satisfying. I got immediate results without having to wait for veggies to grow in my garden. I got a harvest in a week & the sprouts taste nutty. Great on sandwiches, stirfry, salads & smoothies.Plus microgreens are fun to grow. After the first 2 days of using a spray bottle of water to keep them moist in moderation (too much water creates mold) and keeping the sprouts in the dark & under a steadily applied weight to insure the roots burrow into the soil or jute fiber, by day 3 microgreen seeds had sprouted enough to give them filtered sunlight. Then I saw real growth. I could even watch the stems jostling for time in the sun, when the baby sprouts actually moved before my eyes.Within 7-10 days, I could harvest. These quality seeds germinated well & densely. Reliable return on my investment. Highly recommended.

Filled with life energy! 🌱

I ❤️ everything I’ve ever ordered from this company. These arugula micro greens are fantastic. I use a coir mat with a water/hydro tray. I sprinkle about a tablespoon of seeds onto a wet mat, place the tray in a dark place for 2 days then set it in the window sill. After 24 hours, they have turned green and grown an inch. You can eat them right then, or wait til they sprout up even taller. As long as you keep the mat wet, they will stay viable. And they taste bright and lively and sharp!! The bag stands upright to store and also has a ziplock closure to ensure the seeds stay fresh. This is THE EASIEST way to ensure you have a steady supply of fresh greens, even through the shortest winter days.

High germination rate. Great product (Astro variety?)

Value:This product is a great value to get a lot of good quality seeds for a low priceFor full size harvest..I actually ordered this in an attempt to grow full sized arugula instead of harvesting as micro. It does grow to a large size but I believe it is a different variety than standard "Rocket" arugula that I typically buy in stores. The leaves don't have the same shape and I"m thinking it may be the Astro variety, but it still taste great.MicrogreenI did harvest some early but to taste as microgreen and it was excellent as well. Sprouting can be done in standard off the shelf "jiffy" trays with a think layer of lightly packed soil. or peat moss.Germination RateWhat is most impressive about this product is the germination rate. I put as mall amount of seeds in and it looks like the vast majority germinated and sprouted. I feel like it must be a 90% or greater germination with very little effort put in.Final thoughts. This high germination rate seed is great for microgreens and even for large salad growth. It is not rocket variety and is a bit thicker but good none the less. I highly recommend them.

Howe's it going?
LOTS of Seeds, Good Sprouting

LOTS of seed! These arugula seeds are good sprouting seeds. The pan shown in the picture is about a week and a half after planting. They are ready to cut and eat. These started to sprout the next day after planting in coco coir in a 9x11 inch aluminum cake pan. I poked holes in the lid and put the lid on for a greenhouse-like environment that kept the soil moist for the seeds. I did not have to soak them first before planting. I have also had good sprouts with this company's broccoli seed. I am happy with the product.

High germination rate

1 lb is a lot of arugula seeds! Considering you only use a small amount to sprout at a time, you should share the seeds with as many people as you can. The resealable bag is free-standing and true to weight.I tested the germination rate of a small pinch of seeds and got good results. The directions say to soak the seeds first for 8-24 hrs. They develop a clear gelatinous coating, like chia or basil seeds, which I didn't previously know. This makes it harder to drain the water out. After the soaking, I put the seeds on a paper towel and within 2 days, they started sprouting. I now have some coconut coir sprinkled on top so they have a medium to grow in. Since this is my first time growing microgreens, I probably did it wrong and will need to do more research into the technique.Note that sprouts and microgreens are not the same thing, even though the 2 terms are often used interchangably-- even on supermarket labels. (I didn't know the difference before researching for this review). Sprouts are seeds that have just begun to grow roots and still have their cotyledons -- no true leaves. Microgreens are more developed and are green, due to the plant producing chlorophyll. With sprouts, you eat the whole plant. Microgreens have true leaves and only parts above the soil are consumed.Alfalfa sprouts, for example, are yellow and tangled up when you see them in stores. Confusingly, supermarkets also sell alfalfa sprouts that are upright, growing from a block of spongey material like a dense miniature forest-- these should technically be called alfalfa microgreens. Here I've uploaded pictures of the sprouts turning into microgreens, a span of 6 days.UPDATE: 3/26/22There’s so much seed that I decided to do an experiment seeding our backyard with arugula. The grass is quickly receding and being overtaken by nimblewill, so why not? The sprouts add patches of greenery and groundcover. It has been about 2 weeks. I will update as time goes on.

Better for microgreens than sprouts

I’ve grown other kinds of sprouts before, so I was planning to use these seeds the same way, but they didn’t work for that. Once soaked, each seed grew a thick mucilaginous coating that made them impossible to drain. They just clogged the cheesecloth, and every other strainer I tried, so there was no way to save them from just drowning in too much water.I poured this mucilaginous slurry over some potting soil in a tray, and there the seedlings thrived. Here’s a photo of my beautiful microgreens. They taste great, with that distinctive arugula flavor. I highly recommend these seeds for microgreens, but not for straight sprouts. They’d probably be OK as sprouts if they were just a small percentage of a mix that was mostly other, less gummy seeds.

About Arugula Sprouting & Microgreen Seeds

Arugula Microgreens Seeds for Sprouts and Microgreens

Grow bold, peppery arugula two easy ways from one bulk bag. Rinse the seeds in a jar for tender sprouts in a few days, or sow them densely on a shallow tray for a full flush of microgreens in a week or two. Both give you crisp, fresh flavor indoors year round, with no garden required.

Who it's for

Cooks who love a peppery bite, beginners who want a fast and forgiving first grow, and anyone with a jar, a tray, or a sunny windowsill. Works with soil, coconut coir, and most microgreen trays.

How to grow sprouts and microgreens

Sprouts: Soak a spoonful of seeds, then rinse and drain in a sprouting jar two or three times a day. Keep them out of direct sun and they are ready in about 3 to 5 days. Note that arugula seeds are mucilaginous and turn gel-like when wet, so many growers prefer the tray method.

Microgreens: Scatter the seeds densely across a shallow tray of moist soil or coir, mist daily, and give them light once they green up. No soil is required for the sprouts method, only a jar and water.

Harvest

Sprouts are ready in roughly 3 to 5 days. Microgreens are ready to cut in about 1 to 2 weeks, when the first true leaves show. Snip just above the soil line with clean scissors and rinse before eating.

Flavor and uses

Bold, peppery, and a little nutty. Perfect on pizza, pasta, and grain bowls, tucked into sandwiches, or scattered over salads and eggs as a fresh finishing green.

FAQ

Are these seeds non-GMO and heirloom? Yes. Every batch is non-GMO heirloom and germination tested before it ships.

What is the difference between sprouts and microgreens? Sprouts are grown in a jar with just water and eaten whole within a few days. Microgreens are grown on a tray of soil or coir, given light, and cut above the soil after a week or two.

How fast do they grow? Sprouts in about 3 to 5 days, microgreens in about 1 to 2 weeks.

Do I need soil? Not for sprouts, which only need a jar and water. Microgreens do best on a shallow layer of soil or coconut coir.

How do I store the seeds? Reseal the bag and keep it in a cool, dry, dark spot. The seeds stay viable for years when stored this way.

New to growing these? Read our arugula microgreens growing guide, or browse the full microgreens and sprouting seeds collection.
