Morning glories are the quickest way to turn a bare fence into a wall of flowers. Our heirloom Tall Mix morning glory seeds (Ipomoea purpurea) grow into vigorous 8 to 12 foot vines covered in heart-shaped leaves and trumpet blooms in blue, purple, pink, magenta, white, and striped bicolors. Each flower opens at dawn and new ones follow every morning until frost. This 1 oz bulk pack holds over 800 seeds.

How & when to plant

Nick or soak the seeds for 24 hours, then sow 1/2 inch deep after the last frost when the soil is warm, spacing 6 to 12 inches apart at the base of a support. Seedlings appear in 5 to 10 days. Growing & care

Full sun and average, even poor, soil give the most flowers. Rich soil and fertilizer grow leaves instead of blooms. Water in dry weather and give the vines string, netting, or a trellis to twine around. Once established they need almost no care.

Harvest

Morning glories are best enjoyed on the vine, since each bloom lasts one day. Let pods dry and turn brown in late summer if you want to save seed, and remove them if you prefer the vines not to self-sow. Seeds are not edible.
