Slow Germination in Warmer Temps

The box contained 3100 - Iceberg lettuce seeds. I had warmer temps in my zone. Germination was slow but eventually I got about a 70% germination rate. I am satisfied with this product.

So far so good… small but hopeful

These seeds are more than enough for your garden adventure. I planted a few and in just three days they are starting to peak out small buds from the soil. I will update through out this process. I was pleasantly surprised to see them sprout so fast but the seeds really are a long tedious process, so far so good.

Quality Seeds

I grow lots of lettuce hydroponically, yet I have never tried iceberg lettuce before. So I got these seeds to give it a try. The seeds look like good quality seeds, and you get a lot of them for the price. I'm looking forward to trying them.

Coming up as fast as my radishes!

When I wanted lettuce to grow in my garden last year, nothing would grow...not one leaf! So I tried this company this time instead...what a difference! I gave green showing everywhere a seed touched the soil and these are direct sown in large (5-10 gallon pots) mounted on tables and some bricks as I hate bending down to weed! So...I expect to be eating the th innings soon, ( as soon as this rain stops !) here in sunny, chilly February 2025 So California zone 9 ! Thank you seller for properly storing this seed before selling it, makes a great deal.of difference and shows a seller who cares!

No Heads Yet

These seeds do germinate, and there is greenery going, but I planted these in September and today is November 21st and there is no sign of heads, small or large. The harvest time for these are supposed to be 60 days.

Worked perfectly in hydroponic unit

I used these seeds in my hydroponic unit and they worked really well. They sprouted within a few days and turned into beautiful, green lettuce which I've been using in my daily salads.

Lettuce Iceberg Seeds Pack 3G - Over 3,100 Non-GMO Heirloom Lettuce Seeds

If you’re looking to get your garden growing, the Lettuce Iceberg Seeds Pack is a solid choice! With over 3,100 non-GMO heirloom seeds, you’ll have more lettuce than you can shake a salad bowl at. The seeds germinated quickly and produced crisp, delicious heads of lettuce that made my salads pop. My only gripe is that they need a bit of attention when it comes to watering—too much or too little can be a little finicky. Overall, though, I’d say this pack is a great investment for any home gardener. Lettuce give it 4 stars!

Great Seeds from a Terrific Company

I've tried other seed varieties from this company to the tune of excellent results. I'm also planning to keep growing lettuces and greens throughout the fall, so I was excited to get a chance to try these. The packet includes a generous amount of seeds, so you'll definitely be able to sow liberally and grow a lot of lettuce. They also germinate quickly and the seedlings are easy to take care of. They'd make a terrific choice for beginning gardeners or a nice starter choice for anyone who's new to growing vegetables. (There's truly nothing more empowering and enjoyable than growing your own food!)Really fantastic seed choice that's made a great addition to my seed vault so far. Definitely recommended!

Just sprouted, but looking good. Nice in kitchen.

I've tried several of this brands seed kits, and all have come in well, IF you plant in good soil and water regularly. For 'kitchen' (solarium) use, this is an easy kit for fresh lettuce. Yum.I'll be looking out for this brand for other (more) seeds in future.(The wildflowers kit has done really well.)

They're sprouting

These seem to be doing well so far. I will know more once they've gotten bigger, but so far so good.

Can iceberg lettuce really be "heirloom"?

I'm not sure iceberg lettuce is old enough to have any "heirloom" varieties. I'm pretty sure it's a fairly modern invention, but regardless, I love it. We'll see how it does in containers. It's almost cool enough here to think about planting this. Maybe another couple of weeks from now, as it's still in the 90s.

your standard lettuce

Iceberg lettuce is starting to come back into fashion, maybe not celebrated exactly, but also not universally derided like it used to be. I don't find this the easiest lettuce to grow. You need absolutely no hot days, which can be a challenge through spring here in Zone 9. Planted as late summer ends, this variety should grow well over a mild winter. The packet of seeds is well sealed and there are a lot of seeds.

3 grams of lettuce seeds is quite a lot of seeds

I started these seeds last week in a hydroponic seed starter, and they have already germinated and are taller than 1 inch. I estimate that greater than 95% have germinated already, and they seem to be coming along nicely. I underestimated how many seeds 3 grams would be- it's far more than I will be able to use in years.

Quality seeds

I have ordered a LOT from Organo and I am impressed by the seed quality and germination rate. These iceberg lettuce seeds are no exception! I am starting them in my hydroponics systems and so far they have germinated quickly with very few failed seeds. The seedlings are doing well so I am looking forward to skipping the lettuce at the grocery store in favor of my own homegrown lettuce. I truly trust this seed company, so you really can't go wrong with any of their seeds.

Grows Well Hydroponically

I have been growing these iceberg lettuce seeds with some students who are learning about building hydroponics systems, and we have been pleased with the results. The germination rates have been high 80% and lettuce seedlings have been rooting well. We look forward to eating this lettuce in a couple of months when the heads are ready to harvest.

I’m always looking for new seeds to try out and I got these to try the lettuce variety. Looking forward to harvesting my own lettuce for salads!

Common iconic lettuce, lots of seeds

I haven't had a lot of experience with iceberg lettuce. I never get around to getting a good harvest out of them. The heads have always been smaller than what I see at the grocery store.I'll try again this year with this batch and hopefully I'll have better luck. This doesn't seem to be a particular heirloom variety, it's just a generic iceberg lettuce. There are a lot of tiny seeds, but from experience, these seeds don't keep for very long. I tend to start them in batches every few weeks so I can get continuous harvests over the cooler months. It's too early for me to speak to how they taste or grow, but I'm optimistic that with this many seeds, I'll have a good harvest in a couple months.

It is what it is

I can confirm that this is a small paper pack of lettuce seeds, and that there's a whole ton of them. I've germinated and started a couple. I won't be able to use all these in a lifetime. Perfect for aerogarden.

This 3-gram packet contains over 3,100 non-GMO heirloom lettuce seeds, supplying ample quantities for both my indoor and outdoor gardening needs. One of the standout features of these seeds is their remarkable germination rate. I found that they sprouted quickly and consistently, which is fantastic for gardeners who may be anxious about the planting process. Within just a few days, I noticed budding seedlings that grew strong and healthy. As the plants matured, I was pleasantly surprised by how well they thrived in different conditions—whether in an outdoor garden bed or a small indoor setup. They’re hardy enough to withstand slight fluctuations in temperature, making them a versatile choice for gardeners at any skill level. The flavor of the iceberg lettuce is another highlight. Grow Crisp, Refreshing Heads from Heirloom, Non-GMO Iceberg Lettuce Seeds

Homegrown iceberg lettuce is a world away from the bagged kind: sweeter, crunchier, and picked at its peak. Our heirloom iceberg lettuce seeds (Lactuca sativa) grow into tight, crisp heads of pale green leaves that are wonderfully refreshing in salads, sandwiches, and wraps. With cool weather and a little patience, you can grow classic crunch right in your own garden.

Who it's for

Great for salad lovers and cool-season gardeners. Iceberg rewards a little care with satisfying, full heads, so it suits gardeners who enjoy the process, and it is a fun one to grow in spring or fall when the weather is on its side.

How & when to plant

Sow iceberg lettuce seeds in cool weather, in early spring or late summer for a fall crop. Barely cover the seeds, since they need light to germinate, and keep them cool and moist; they sprout in about 7 to 10 days. Grow lettuce in full sun to part shade, thinning or spacing plants about 10 to 12 inches apart to give the heads room to form. Our Iceberg Lettuce growing guide has the details.

Growing & care

Lettuce loves cool, steady conditions. Keep the soil consistently moist so the leaves stay sweet and crisp, since heat and dryness turn it bitter and cause it to bolt. A little afternoon shade helps in warm regions, and even watering is the key to firm, well-formed heads.

Harvest

Harvest iceberg once the heads feel firm and full, usually around 70 to 85 days, cutting them at the base in the cool of the morning. Pick promptly, since heads left too long in warm weather will bolt and turn bitter.

Benefits & uses

Crisp iceberg is a salad and sandwich classic. Use the crunchy leaves as lettuce wraps, shred it into tacos and burgers, build a wedge salad, or simply enjoy its cool, refreshing crunch. Freshly cut from the garden, it is better than anything from the shop.

Why gardeners grow our lettuce seed

Our iceberg lettuce seed is heirloom, non-GMO, and untreated, chosen for strong germination and packed fresh by a licensed seed dealer based in the USA. Grow crisp, fresh heads and save seed from your best plants. Choose the pack size that fits your garden and get sowing.
