They're up. Finally.

I was beginning to loose heart but then I read that carrot seeds typically take from 14 to 21 days to germinate. So I waited. There was nothing there yesterday but today, after 17 days, there's life! We planted two kinds of carrots and these guys made it up a bit ahead of their carrot-cousins. I'm reminded of the verse in the Bible that says "The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how."Needless to say, I can't rate these carrots on their flavor or orange color but I can say I'm looking forward to it.

Plenty of Carrot Seeds

These are good, heirloom carrot seeds. These are non-GMO and made in the USA. This type of carrot is long and slender and can grow up to about 10 inches in length. They should be a great all-around carrot. I have not grown these yet. It does provide instructions to pre-soak for 6 to 8 hours and wrap in a damp paper towel for up to a few days to help with germination. I'm going to try these in a large grow bag on my patio. The back of the packet gives information and also they have an online growing guide. This packet has a lot of seeds - carrot seeds are tiny and there are 1800 in here.

Nice Seeds!

These Imperator 58, Carrot Seeds seem to be nice quality and they're a Good Value; I planted quite a few and have plenty leftover to sucession plant later in the season. Time will tell, I'll update if they don't germinate.

Lots of seeds but a wee bit overpriced

As I've said before I love my seeds so I don't hesitate when I can order for a Vine product review.PROS* A LOT of seeds* claims a high germination rate* indoor/outdoor seeds* any climate* non GMO* USA sourcedCONS* kind of over priced at $7.49 for seeds!I grow a lot of veggies and this will be the first time I am trying carrots. If they prove to not be good seeds I will revise my review but until then I RECOMMEND these if you can get on sale as they seem very good quality seeds.

Nice seeds, a bit spendy

When I ordered these I had hoped that with this price range there would be more seeds. It is about twice what I normally spend on the same amount of seeds. Nice packaging, US seeds, Florida company. Non-gmo heirloom. Packaging is also nice.

Fantastic!

The Imperator 58 Carrot Seeds Pack is fantastic, providing over 1800 high-quality, non-GMO heirloom seeds that are perfect for both indoor and outdoor gardening. I was thrilled with the excellent germination rate and the healthy, delicious carrots that resulted from these seeds. This pack is a great value and a must-have for any home gardener looking to grow their own vegetables.

Great germination

The success rate of the germination is incredibly high. Out of about 20 starts I planted, only two failed to germinate.

Great quantity of seeds.

This came with a LOT of seeds. I planted mine a little late, but they are finally showing progress, just barely peeking out of the soil. So far I would say at least 70-80% germination, but I am certain more will appear over the next couple of days.

Good Quantity of Heirloom Carrot Seeds

The carrot seeds look good, they come in a packet with all the information you need to plant and sow them. You get a lot of seeds in one packet and I appreciate that they are heirloom seeds. I look forward to growing them this coming veggie season and would recommend. Thank you!

This is the Way
Expensive

My first attempt at direct sow did not sprout anything, possibly due to the sudden shift in temperature. My second attempt in a warmer and more steady climate finally had some seeds germinate. I look forward to seeing how they end up, but at nearly $8 a packet, they are quite expensive.

Quite a Bit of Seeds

We'll get these planted as soon as possible. Teh pack did come with a lot of seeds, so I believe the 1800 number.

great seeds

Hence we live in southern states I can not elaborate about the germination time, carot size, or size, etc. , not until late September. The seeds look good. Have not noticed any damage to the package or seeds.A little bit pricey.

So Far, They're Doing What They're Supposed To Do...

I chose these carrot seeds, primarily because of the brand. I have seeds from this brand and I have had great success with them over the years. These seeds are no different, I'm happy to report. I can't tell you how the carrots taste yet because I haven't harvested them, but the seeds I sowed all appear to be growing normally. I will report back once I've harvested them to let you know about size and taste. So far, I highly recommend them, especially for Amazon's low listed selling price.

High germination rate

I put single seeds in peat pellets to try these seeds out, and each had a little carrot sprout within a few days. Would absolutely recommend!

A generous amount of carrot seeds, but a bit pricey.

This variety has a pretty good reputation and I wish that I had had time to sew some of the seeds, but I haven't. Having to start several hundred seeds indoors takes up all my time in April and May. However, if for some reason I have an issue with low germination rate, I will update this review. In the meantime, I look forward to getting these seeds planted and enjoying these carrots.

Lots and lots of seeds!

Imperator 58 is a six to seven and one-half long, deep orange colored carrot. Seeds should be planted 1/4" deep and thinned to 1-1/2" apart after germination. The seeds are very small and should be planted in rich, well drained, rock-free soil.I measured slightly over 2g of seeds in this package. They're too small to count, however the sources I've checked show 600-800 seeds per gram. That's a bit short of the 1800 shown in the title, but still enough to grow a lot of carrots! Because of their size, I can't assess germination percentage, but I have a lot of carrot sprouts coming up in my garden...more than enough for me!

Viable, Non-GMO Carrot Seeds germinated in a couple days!

I will update this review with photos every couple of weeks so you can get a look at the plants and eventually the carrots themselves. The package art invokes a feeling of a cottage garden blooming with heirloom veggies.

germinated!

I direct seeded these into our garden on May 7, 2024. They sprouted above the soil on May 17, 2024. Our temperature here in Northeast Texas has been in the 80's during the day and the 60's at night. An ample amount of seeds is contained in the package. Presently, my review is favorable.

Standard stuff here

Well, this is a packet of carrot seeds that arrived as depicted. It will take a while to make sure they germinate but they appear fine to me. I’ll update if we have any problems.

Already germinated!

Already seeing a ton of green tops peeking out after 11 days. Germination was quick and seems high. I direct seeded a row in a raised bed with rich soil and kept it moist. Very pleased and looking forward to thinning and seeing the final results.

Germinating well

So far these seeds are germinating well for me! I do wonder if they're a bit overpriced compared to similar brands, I don't see what makes these ones a better value.

I'm Expecting Good Results

I ordered this pack of Imperator 58 Carrot Seeds so that I can try growing carrots in my vegetable garden. It's unfortunate that I waited until now to order these seeds, because in my climate zone I'll need to wait until September to get them in the ground. I'm basing my rating on my previous experience with Organo Republic. I've found there seeds to have excellent germination rates, even after a year. A QR code on the seed packet takes you to some handy growing tips.

Excited for these to grow!

I love that the bag is resealable. With other seed packets, they typically are just paper and once opened I would put inside a plastic bag. Lots would pour out and would be annoying to have to pinch and grab them back out.I’m starting these indoors and will update once they start to germinate/I transport them outside.

Grow Long, Sweet Carrots from Heirloom, Non-GMO Imperator 58 Carrot Seeds

Imperator 58 is the classic long, tapered carrot you picture when you think "carrot." Our heirloom Imperator 58 carrot seeds (Daucus carota) grow into slender, deep-orange roots with a sweet, crisp bite and fine flavor. Given deep, loose soil and a little patience, they reward you with the kind of beautiful, snackable carrots that make gardening worthwhile.

Who it's for

For gardeners with deep, loose beds who love a classic, sweet carrot. Imperator types grow long, so they do best in raised beds or well-worked soil, and their crisp sweetness makes them a favorite for fresh eating and snacking straight from the garden.

How & when to plant

Sow the seeds directly, since carrots do not transplant, planting them about a quarter inch deep in deep, stone-free soil in full sun during cool weather. Keep the surface evenly moist, as carrots germinate slowly, often over 14 to 21 days, then thin the seedlings to about 2 to 3 inches apart. Our Imperator 58 Carrot growing guide has the details.

Growing & care

Loose, deep soil is everything for long carrots, so work the bed well and remove stones before sowing. Water steadily so the roots grow straight and sweet without splitting, keep the seedlings weed-free, and cover any exposed shoulders with soil to prevent green tops.

Harvest

Begin harvesting once the carrots reach a good size, usually around 68 to 75 days. Loosen the soil before pulling so the long roots come up whole, and remember that a touch of frost makes them even sweeter. Lift them gently to avoid snapping.

Benefits & uses

Imperator 58 carrots are made for fresh eating: crisp, sweet, and perfect for snacking, salads, and crudites. They are equally good roasted, steamed, or added to soups and stews, and their long, elegant shape makes them a showpiece of the vegetable garden.

Why gardeners grow our carrot seed

Our Imperator 58 carrot seed is heirloom, non-GMO, and untreated, chosen for strong germination and packed fresh by a licensed seed dealer based in the USA. Grow long, sweet carrots and save seed from your best plants. Choose the pack size that fits your garden and get sowing.

FAQ

It is the classic long, slender, tapered carrot, deep orange and sweet, and the type most often seen in grocery stores.
Deep, loose, stone-free soil is essential for these long roots, so a raised bed or well-worked ground gives the best, straightest carrots.
Sow directly, about a quarter inch deep in full sun during cool weather; carrots do not transplant. Keep the surface moist, as they germinate over about 14 to 21 days.
Thin the seedlings to about 2 to 3 inches apart so the long roots have room to develop fully.
Usually around 68 to 75 days. Loosen the soil before pulling so the long roots lift out whole.
Water steadily and evenly so the roots grow at a consistent pace, and harvest before they get overly large.
