They look healthy

The seeds look healthy, but it's not time for them to be planted in my region. The package is nice and I like the details on the package that should help with growing when it's time.

Good germination

I direct sowed these in my outdoor garden and got really good germination. They are just starting to come up, so it's too soon to discuss how it tastes and how drought tolerant it is. But so far so good.

They sprouted today - see photos

This review is for the “ Swiss Chard Ruby Red Seeds Pack 3.75G - Over 200 Non-GMO Heirloom Swiss Chard Seeds for Planting Greens in Individual Seed Packet, Greens Seeds for Planting Home Garden Indoor & Outdoor Gardening”.I was a bit worried that the seeds would not sprout since I soaked them almost 48 hours instead of 12-24, I plain forgot them. But… here we are 6 days after sowing them outside they popped out of the bed this morning. So happy!! It will be still quite a while til I have full grown Swiss Chard but I am a very patient gardener. Wish me luck and no cabbage moths!

we have germination!

• planted on May 9, 2024• germinated slightly before May 21, 2024So ... 10-11 days to germinate here in Northeast Texas? Our days have been in the 80s and nights in the 60s. Our ground is pretty moist right now, and the air is humid. No complaints.

Good seeds

I'm already stocking up for the next growing season. In my experience chards grow well in winter (zone 10A) so I will have to wait until the early fall to sow these.Spring UPDATE: these chards have grown very well all winter in Florida zone 10A. The pictures have been taken 5 April 2025. I have picked and eaten several bunches and they keep growing until it will be too hot to keep them alive and I will eat them all up.

Good quality seeds, not impressed with packaging

This 3.75g package contains approximately 200 chard seeds. A plus that they are non-GMO heirloom seeds. The storage envelope is unimpressive. The product images and description boast their innovative resealable design. It is a basic paper envelope. It's not resealable unless you get some tape and close it. There is no innovation here... a bit of a misrepresentation. Finally, there is no date printed like you would find on other brands. If you want to keep track of how long you've had the seeds sitting around, you'll need to mark the envelope yourself.

Love it

Review for: Swiss Chard Ruby Red Seeds Pack 3.75G - Over 200 Non-GMO Heirloom Swiss Chard Seeds for Planting Greens iI love the Swiss chard. These seeds grew well. I am hopeful that they may winter over if the weather is mild. That has happened in previous winters. Can't tell about these yet, though. As a Vine reviewer I try to provide good information. My scale:Most things will start at 4 stars. It gets that extra star only if it is outstanding. It loses stars for issues- bad sizing, poor quality. One star if is is not suitable for purpose or for gross misrepresentation.

CHARRRDDD!

Very pleased with these seeds. Germination was easy and overall a great success! I was honestly expecting most of the seeds to be duds but they gave me such a wonderful harvest. I'm already looking forward to the next growing season with my leftover seeds.

sprouted well then texas weather won out

These did sprout well, so full marks for them there, but the texas heat beat them back pretty hard despite the shade and water, so in the end we didn't have any to eat.

Good Growth

These seeds gave quick, efficient germination and were doing a nice job of growing until the bed they were in decided to stop draining and flood out, causing everything to die. Will give them another shot and update if I find any problems.

Good seeds

Rabbits love munching this too much for us to get much from what I planted so far but they're quality and had good germination etc.

Sprouted quickly

I ended up using these for microgreens just to see if I wanted to invest in a larger packet of seeds later. These seeds sprouted VERY quickly and soon filled up their growing tray. I cut and ate them as microgreens and they were extremely tender and quite flavorful. Would definitely recommend these!

Good quality swiss chard ruby seeds.

These are a nice robust packet of swiss chard ruby seeds. Easy seedlings in my experience, sprouted nicely. I believe it did come with over 200 of them as advertised. Successful planting.

Very Quick Germination In Our Indoor Hydroponic Unit!

These Swiss Chard seeds were very quick to germinate in our indoor hydroponic unit. Growth was normal and the taste, like everything else we grow at home, was excellent. We are very pleased with this particular vendor of seeds and will be purchasing more in the future. Highly recommended, especially for Amazon's low listed selling price!

very fresh and viable seed pack

I planted these and in just a few days already started getting lots of sprouts! Probably just about every seed I planted has sprouted.

Sprouting nicely

It will be awhile before I can eat this Swiss chard but it's sprouting nicely. The germination rates look pretty good and the color on the sprouts I have is really nice. The packaging is good with complete instructions.

Great germination

Direct sown, massive amount of germination. I oversowed my container just in case, and I'm absolutely going to have to thin it out - I could have used half the seed I used and still had a ton.

Viable Seeds With Detailed Instructions

These ruby swiss chard seeds come in a paper envelope of 200 seeds. They include detailed instructions. I performed a germination test, and the seeds sprouted within the time stated on the envelope. I like that they are non-GMO, heirloom seeds, so seeds should be able to be saved from the resulting produce for future growing seasons. I think these are good quality seeds, and I would purchase them again.

Cannot wait for this to grow!!

I love my seeds so it was not a tough choice to order these for a Vine product review.PROS* a lot of seeds* claims a high germination rate* indoor/outdoor seeds* any climate* non GMO* USA sourcedCONS* kind of over priced at $7.49 for seeds!I grow a lot of veggies in the summer and I am very excited for this as I love swiss chard. If they prove to not be all they are hyped to be I will revise my review but until then I RECOMMEND these if you can get on sale as they seem very good quality seeds.

Expensive, but seeds seem fine

I've grown this variety (Ruby Red) before, and it's one of my favorite. It's a smaller variety with bright red stems and veins. The leaves of this variety are more fibrous than other, more leafy chard. I usually plant this one to use the stems as they are so pretty in dishes. This packet of seeds contains good planting information, and seems fresh but is very expensive for what it is. If you can't find these heirloom seeds locally, and you really like this variety, maybe it's worth it, however, Ruby Red isn't a rare variety. I just planted, so I can't comment to germination rate, but the seeds seemed fine.

So far so good...

Took only days to emerge after planting. I look very forward to harvest.

Grow Vivid, Edible Color from Heirloom, Non-GMO Ruby Red Chard Seeds

Ruby Red chard is as beautiful as it is delicious. Our heirloom Ruby Red Swiss chard seeds (Beta vulgaris) grow into striking plants with brilliant crimson stems and veins running through deep green, glossy leaves. It is a true dual-purpose plant, at home in the vegetable patch, the flower border, or a container, and it eats every bit as well as it looks.

Who it's for

Ideal for gardeners who want food that looks gorgeous, and for anyone edging into edible landscaping. Ruby Red is just as easy and productive as green chard, but its glowing stems make it a standout, so it earns a place in ornamental beds and pots as much as the veggie garden.

How & when to plant

Sow chard seeds directly after your last frost, or start them indoors, planting them about half an inch deep. Each seed is a small cluster, so a few seedlings may emerge from each; they germinate in about 7 to 14 days. Grow chard in full sun to part shade, spacing plants about 6 to 12 inches apart. Our Swiss Chard growing guide has more.

Growing & care

Ruby Red is easy and long lasting. Keep it evenly watered for tender leaves and bright stems, and it will produce from spring through fall, tolerating summer heat far better than spinach. Harvest regularly to keep it coming, and enjoy the color it brings to the garden all season.

Harvest

Pick the outer leaves once plants are established, usually around 55 to 60 days, leaving the center to keep growing. Younger leaves are tender for salads, while mature leaves and their colorful stems are excellent cooked. Frequent picking keeps plants productive.

Benefits & uses

Ruby Red chard is a feast for the eyes and the plate. Toss the young leaves into salads for a pop of color, saute the mature leaves and ruby stems together, or add them to soups, stir-fries, and pastas. Grow it where you can admire it, then bring it to the table.

Why gardeners grow our chard seed

Our Ruby Red chard seed is heirloom, non-GMO, and untreated, chosen for strong germination and packed fresh by a licensed seed dealer based in the USA. Grow vivid, edible color and save seed from your best plants. Choose the pack size that fits your garden and get sowing.

Growing guide: New to this variety? Read our full guide, How to Grow Ruby Red Swiss Chard From Seed, for step by step sowing, spacing, and harvest tips.
